! was born Turkey, grew up in England and now divide my time between Massachusetts and Maine. Having worked professionally for many years in poverty-alleviation programs around the world, I turn to photography to remind myself of the beauty that exists in a world of economic, social and political injustice. Initially my photography focused on discovering abstract expressions of beauty in the natural world. In more recent work, I have shifted my perspective toward an exploration of my own internal experiences, often drawing on upon pattern, geometry and color to do so. I see my work as an invitation to open our senses to new perceptions, an encounter with the boundlessness of inner and outer landscapes. My work has been exhibited in galleries and museums across the United States. My images can be found in corporate collections in Maine and private collections in the United States and Europe.
